Build an app just for your own stores

A development app lives on the dev channel. You can install it on stores you own and test it with your real data, and no other merchant can install it.

In short

A development app is created in the partner centre with New development app, from an App ID, a name, a version and the AppProvider class of your app package. It is created on the dev channel, can only be installed on stores the developer owns, and is tried there with Test install.

The problem it solves

Every business has one workflow no public app covers. Building it as a public listing means waiting for a review you never needed; building it outside the platform means no access to your own orders and stock.

How it works

4 steps, start to finish

  1. 1

    Create a development app

In the partner centre, choose New development app and enter the App ID, App name, AppProvider class and Version.

  2. 2

    Build against your store

It is installable only on stores you own, so you test with your real data.

  3. 3

    Test install

Install it on your own store and use it like any other app.

  4. 4

    Stay on your own stores

Viewing a store you do not own, the partner centre asks you to switch to one of yours before a test install.
