Every conversation is tied to an external contact on its channel. Under Contacts & Linking you add contacts by hand and link each one to a storefront customer, which resolves to the party used in your orders and accounts.
The problem it solves
A customer who orders online, pays on credit and messages on WhatsApp shows up as three different people. Without a link between them, staff ask the same questions again and cannot see the order they are writing about.

Pick a channel
Contacts & Linking works per connected channel, so pick WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger or Telegram first.

Add a contact
Manual Add Contact takes a name, email and phone; Instagram, Messenger and Telegram contacts also need their platform user ID.

Link a storefront customer
Choose the storefront customer and the external contact, then Save Link. The resolved party shows beside it.

See who is linked
Linked and unlinked storefront customers are listed separately, with Link and Unlink on each row.

What contacts does for you

Conversations, links and campaigns on a channel use the same contact record.

Storefront customer links
A customer who shops online can be linked to the contact who messages you.

Resolved party
The link resolves to the party behind the customer, with their email and phone.

Search contacts
Search external contacts on the selected channel.

A contact is created when someone messages a connected channel. You can also add one by hand under Manual Add Contact.

So the person in the chat, the customer who orders online and the party in your books are one record instead of three.

The ID Instagram, Messenger or Telegram uses for that person. WhatsApp contacts are matched by phone number instead.
