Take what the customer can pay now, keep the rest on the order

Type a smaller amount in the payment terminal and the sale becomes a part payment: the order stays open, the balance is due later, and it shows up in receivables until it is collected.

In short

When the amount to pay is less than the total, the POS records a part payment and keeps the order open with the remainder due later. The order is marked Partially Paid, and the balance is collected later from the order or the Receivables report.

The problem it solves

Regular customers pay half now and half on Friday. If the till only knows paid or unpaid, the half payment ends up in a notebook and the balance is forgotten.

How it works

4 steps, start to finish

  1. 1

    Charge the sale

In the payment terminal, enter the amount the customer is paying now.

  2. 2

    See what stays due

The terminal shows Part payment, order stays open, and how much is due later.

  3. 3

    Hand over the receipt

The receipt shows Paid now and Remaining later, so the customer knows the balance too.

  4. 4

    Collect later

Use Collect payment on the order, or Collect in the Receivables report for a lump sum.
